Getting started with groups

This article explains how to set up groups in order to share multimedia resources via Engage.

Once you have uploaded helpful multimedia resources to Engage, you will need to share them with your students via Groups in Engage. This feature allows you to share resources with specific classes, student groups, or groups of staff members.

Once a user is added to a group, they will get access to all of the group’s resources in their Snapplify Reader app. It's as simple as that!

Creating a new group

To create a new group in Engage:

  1. After logging in to Engage, navigate to the settings section by clicking the cog icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

  2. On the left-hand side of your screen, navigate to 'Groups'.

  3. On the 'Groups' page, click the 'New Group button at the top of the page.
  4. On the next page, give your new group a name and description. Decide if you want to make your group joinable or not. Then click ‘Save’ to create it.

Once your group has been created, you will find it listed on the 'Groups' page. Click the name of your group to populate it with resources and users.

Adding a user to a group

To add a user to a group:

  1. Log in to Engage and navigate to the 'Groups' page in the settings section (as per the steps above).
  2. Click the name of the group that you would like to edit.
  3. Scroll down the group’s page and click on the green ‘Add User’ button.

  4. Type in the user name or email address of the user that you would like to add to the group and select each name from the dropdown options.
  5. Once you're finished adding selected users to the list, click ‘Save’.

Assigning a resource to a group

Once you’ve created a resource you can assign it to a group:

  1. Log in to Engage and navigate to the 'Groups' page in the settings section (as per the steps above).
  2. Click the name of the group that you would like to assign a resource to.
  3. Scroll down the group’s page and click on the green ‘Add Resource’ button (underneath the list of users in your group).

  4. Type in the name of your resources and select it from the dropdown list.

  5. Once you're finished selecting resources, click ‘Save’.
Your resource will now be listed under available resources in the Resources section on your group's page.
