This article is for ANYONE USING SNAPPLIFY ENGAGE.
The Snapplify team is always trying to help you save time so that you can focus on achieving academic success. Creating a desktop shortcut can make it even quicker to launch your Engage platform when you're at your computer.
Here's how to create the shortcut:
On Windows
If you’re using Windows as your operating system, the steps for creating a desktop shortcut to Engage will depend on which browser you are using:
Chrome
To create a desktop shortcut to Engage using Chrome:
- Open your Chrome browser and navigate to Engage (you can click here, or type engage.snapplify.com into the address bar).
- Once the Engage home page has loaded, select the three-dots icon, towards the right of your browser toolbar.
- Select ‘More Tools’ from the drop-down menu.
- Select ‘Create Shortcut’.
- Type in the name of the shortcut (we recommend ‘Snapplify Engage’) and click ‘Create’. This will create an Engage shortcut on your desktop.
Internet Explorer
To create a desktop shortcut to Engage using Internet Explorer:
- Open your Internet Explorer browser and navigate to Engage (you can click here, or type engage.snapplify.com into the address bar).
- Right-click on any blank space on the webpage.
- From the menu that pops up, select ‘Create shortcut’.
- If you are asked whether you want to put a shortcut to this website on your desktop, select ‘Yes’.
- The Engage shortcut should now be on your desktop.
Firefox
To create a desktop shortcut to Engage using Firefox:
- Open your Firefox browser and navigate to Engage (you can click here, or type engage.snapplify.com into the address bar).
- Resize the Firefox window so that you can see both your computer’s desktop and the Firefox window on the same screen.
- Click in the address bar of the browser to highlight and select the URL address.
- While still holding the mouse button down, move the pointer to the desktop, then release the mouse button (i.e. drag and drop).
- The Engage shortcut has now been created on your desktop.
To remove the shortcut from your desktop, simply select the icon and hit the delete button on your keyboard.
On Apple Mac
If you’re using an Apple computer, this is how to create a shortcut to Engage on your desktop or in your dock (i.e. the line of icons at the bottom of your screen):
- Open your preferred browser (e.g. Safari, Chrome, or Firefox) and navigate to Engage (you can click here, or type engage.snapplify.com into the address bar).
- If you’d like to create a desktop shortcut (which is the easiest shortcut option if you’re using the Safari browser), resize your browser window so that you can see both your computer’s desktop and your browser window on your screen. (This step isn’t necessary if you’re creating a dock shortcut.)
- Click in the address bar of the browser to highlight and select the URL address.
- Holding your mouse button down, drag the address you selected to your desktop, or to the right side of your dock.
- Release your mouse button when the shortcut is in the spot you want it to be.
- You will be able to reach Engage by clicking on this icon in future.
To remove the shortcut from your desktop, simply right-click on the icon and select the option to move it to the trash/bin.
To remove the shortcut from your dock, drag the icon out of your dock until you see ‘Remove’ (then you can let go of the mouse button), or drag the icon to the trash-can icon in your dock and release the mouse button when you see ‘Remove from Dock’.
