To prevent the illegal distribution and misuse of copyrighted content, most publishers require strict controls and content protection for all ebooks and e-textbooks available through Snapplify.

Because content on the Snapplify platform is licensed from publishers, we are contractually required to follow the security standards and usage policies set by those publishers. These rules are designed to protect intellectual property, limit unauthorised distribution, and respect copyright.

What is restricted?

To safeguard publisher content and comply with these agreements:

  • Printing, copying, and pasting sections of ebooks is disabled for most paid content.
  • Downloading ebooks outside the Snapplify ecosystem is not permitted, ebooks can only be accessed within the Snapplify Reader app.
  • Screenshots and screensharing are restricted:
For added security, the Snapplify Reader blocks screenshots and does not permit screensharing. This is to prevent unauthorised distribution of copyright-protected material.
  • Platform security:
The Snapplify Reader passes required platform headers during asset downloads to further protect content from unauthorised use.

What you can do instead

Although you cannot print, copy, or capture screens from your ebook, there are several ways you can interact with your content:

  • Bookmark pages to return to important sections.
  • Highlight and take notes directly in the Snapplify Reader. See our guides on Making Highlights and Notes.
  • Use in-book search tools to find key topics efficiently.

Some publishers do give printing permission in specific circumstances. Find out more about how to print certain books from the Snapplify Reader app.
