This article is for DEVELOPERS and PARTNERS who are setting up their D2L Brightspace LMS to launch students into Groups in Snapplify Engage 

This will need to be set up for every course

Once you have created your course in D2L Brightspace, you can set up Snapplify Engage as an external learning tool. This means that you can configure a link to Engage from within Brightspace, using a key and secret. This is also called a Basic Launch

A user will be able to navigate from D2L Brightspace to Snapplify Engage and be automatically registered for Engage and added to the correct Engage group for the course.

To link Engage as an external learning tool in D2L Brightspace:

  1. Log in to D2L Brightspace and navigate to your course.
  2. Click the ‘External Learning’ tab.
  3. The Manage External Learning Tool Links page opens. From here, click the ‘New Link’ button.
  4. On the New Link page, enter the required information on the form:
    • In the Properties section, add a title, your institution’s Engage URL, and description for your link. Also permit users to view the link.
    • In the Key/Secret section, select the applicable options for the signature, then enter the values for the key and the secret.
    • In the Custom Parameters section, click the ‘Add custom parameters’ button to add a new field, then enter the parameter name (snapplify_group_id) and the value (i.e. the group ID number). This signs the users of this course into Engage and adds them to this specific group.

    • In the Security Settings section, ensure that these settings are selected:

    • Click the ‘Save and Close’ button.
