Dark mode and light mode are display options available on ePUBs that allow you to customize the color scheme of your Snapplify Reader. Dark mode features a dark background with light text and is easier on the eyes, while light mode has a light background with dark text, resembling a traditional book.
Why would you want to switch to dark mode?
- Dark mode reduces eye strain and fatigue, particularly when reading in low-light environments.
- The dark background and reduced brightness of the screen can be gentler on the eyes, preventing discomfort
- Dark mode can improve readability, as the high contrast between the dark background and light text can enhance focus and make the content easier to comprehend.
- Dark mode is also known to save battery life on devices with OLED or AMOLED screens since these displays don't require energy to illuminate the black pixels.
What are the benefits to using light mode?
- Some users find light mode more comfortable to read in well-lit environments, as the light background can provide better contrast with the surroundings.
- Individuals with certain visual impairments, such as photophobia, may find light mode more suitable for their needs.
Light Mode is the default setting for the Snapplify Reader app. Below you will find instructions on how to change your display settings for your epUBs
To update your display options:
- Log into your Snapplify Reader
- Open your ePUB file
- Navigate to the settings icon
- Toggle the Dark Mode slider left or right to turn dark mode on or off
Display options are only available on ePUB titles, if you enable dark mode on one ePUB it enables it for all ePUBs on your account.
